LAC Soil Carbon 2025

At the end of June, RI will attend the Latin American and Caribbean Soil Carbon Research Symposium. As a long standing member of the 4 per 100 initiative, and having a seat as Vice-presidents of the initiative, we will participate in this meeting  to raise awareness of the international 4 per 1000 initiative and the soil carbon international research consortium recognise the essential role of agriculture for food security and food sovereignty, exchange experiences among Latin American and Caribbean countries on the role of soil in relation to climate and promote the importance of traditional practices and knowledge for regenerative soil management, ecosystem health and biodiversity.

LAC Soil Carbon – First Edition

The Latin American and Caribbean Symposium on Soil Carbon Research (LAC Soil Carbon) 2025 aims to promote the importance of soil health and sustainable agricultural production for socioeconomic development and food security at regional and global levels.

Organized by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP), the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), the ILPF Network Association and the National Institute of Science and Technology – Low Carbon Agriculture (INCT-ABC), and co-organized and promoted by the International Initiative “4 per 1000” and the International Soil Carbon Research Consortium (IRC), the event will focus on soil carbon, an essential resource for agricultural production.

Over the course of three days, scientists (researchers and students), experts (policymakers and civil society representatives, among others) and professionals (farmers, technicians, entrepreneurs, etc.) will come together to exchange experiences, successes and failures, projects, ideas and discuss regional and global challenges in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and preserving and regenerating soil health.
